Morrison DeS. Webb became executive vice president and general counsel of NYNEX
on February 1, 1995. He assumed additional responsibilities as Secretary of the
Corporation on May 3, 1995.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Webb was vice president - Law, and before that he was vice president - General Counsel and Government Affairs (New England). He had been elected vice president - General Counsel of New England Telephone in 1991. Mr. Webb began his telecommunications career in 1980 as an attorney for New England Telephone. In 1983 he became a general attorney with responsibility for legal issues involved in New England Telephone's divestiture from AT&T. Prior to joining New England Telephone, he was a litigation associate with the law firm of Rogers & Wells in New York City. In 1984 Mr. Webb was appointed vice president and general counsel of NYNEX Business Information Systems Company. In 1986 he moved to NYNEX as corporate director, Strategic Marketing-Networks, responsible for coordinating long range marketing plans for NYNEX's network subsidiaries. From 1987 to 1991 he served as vice president-NYNEX Government Affairs responsible for directing and overseeing the activities of NYNEX's Washington office and its business with the U.S. Congress, the Federal Communications Commission and other agencies of the U.S. Government. Mr. Webb graduated with a bachelor's degree in English, magna cum laude from Amherst College where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He spent four years as an officer in the U.S. Navy and then earned a doctorate of jurisprudence from Harvard Law School in 1976.
