Richard W. Blackburn is president and group executive of NYNEX Worldwide
Communications and Media Group. He is responsible for directing NYNEX's
interests in cable television, wireless services, publishing and select
international investments.

The group also includes NYNEX Global Communications, the business unit responsible for the FLAG project. Prior to his present position, Mr. Blackburn had been senior vice president and chief operating officer of Worldwide Services since June 1, 1993. Before that he had been senior vice president - Business Development of Worldwide Services since June 1, 1991. He began his telephone career in 1967 with Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Companies. In 1974 Mr. Blackburn joined AT&T as an attorney and in 1976 began working with New England Telephone and Telegraph Company as general attorney. In 1981 he was appointed vice president and general counsel of New England Telephone and Telegraph Company. Mr. Blackburn is a member of the American Bar Association and the Boston Bar Association. He is a trustee of the New England Legal Foundation, the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and the American Museum of the Moving Image. Mr. Blackburn received an A.B. degree from Michigan State University in 1964. In 1967 he received a juris doctorate from George Washington University and later studied in the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
