January 17, 1996 NYNEX CONTACT: Media Relations, (212) 395-0500 U.S. Cellular Executive To Manage Indonesian Joint Venture NEW YORK, NY -- Alfred F. Boschulte, internationally recognized U.S. telecommunications executive, has been named managing director of EXCELCOMINDO, a new wireless joint venture through which NYNEX and four partners will bring digital cellular telephone service to 195 million potential customers in Indonesia. He assumed his new position this month in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta. Boschulte was the former president of TOMCOM L.P., a wireless joint services organization developing programs to create national seamless services for customers. A replacement has not yet been named. TOMCOM L.P. is a joint venture formed by AirTouch Communications, Bell Atlantic, NYNEX Mobile and US WEST. Prior to the TOMCOM L.P. position, Boschulte was president and chairman of NYNEX Mobile Communications, overseeing NYNEX's cellular telephone service operations in the northeast United States. NYNEX is the strategic operating partner in EXCELCOMINDO, which has a nationwide license to provide GSM cellular service. Other parties are PT Telekomindo, the major Indonesian shareholder; Santana Telekomindo; Mitsui, the Japanese trading firm; Asian Infrastructure Fun (AIF), an Asian investment firm; and several local Indonesian investors. "Al brings with him to Indonesia a wealth of experience and knowledge of the telecommunications industry and the cellular business," said Arthur Troy, president - NYNEX Asia Communications Group. Troy oversees NYNEX's operations and investment in Excelcomindo. Peter Sondakh, chairman of PT Telekomindo, said, "Al's knowledge and ability to create world-class wireless organizations make him the right person to take EXCELCOMINDO from the starting point of today to becoming one of the leading digital wireless companies in Southeast Asia in the shortest possible time." Boschulte began his career in 1964 as an engineering assistant with New York Telephone and became the company's chief engineer in 1976. He held various managerial positions until 1982, when he joined AT&T and later Pacific Bell, where he was a vice president holding positions in switching, marketing and external affairs. He came to NYNEX in 1987 and held positions as vice president, - Marketing and Planning and vice president - Carrier Services before going to NYNEX Mobile Communications. Al and his wife, Kita, are currently relocating to Jakarta, Indonesia.
