September 13, 1995 NYNEX CONTACT: Media Relations, (212) 395-0500 Phone Calls From Granville to Glens Falls Now Toll Free GRANVILLE, NY -- NYNEX has removed toll charges on calls from Granville to the Glens Falls area. In 1994, NYNEX mailed surveys to 2,474 Granville customers, asking whether they would like to have local calling to Glens Falls in exchange for paying $4.00 a month more in basic flat-rate charges. Of the 52.1 percent of the surveys returned, 56.8 percent were in favor of the proposal and 43.2 percent were opposed. Toll charges were eliminated on calls from the company's Granville exchange (telephone numbers beginning with the digits 642) to phone numbers starting with 743, 744, 745, 746, 747, 748, 761, 792, 793, 796, and 798 on Sept. 10. Calls from the Glens Falls area to Granville continue to carry tolls. A single-party flat-rate residential Granville customer who paid $13.83 a month for basic service is now paying $17.83. Until Nov. 24, residential customers have the option of converting at no charge from flat-rate service to message-rate service. After that date, customers switching to message-rate service will be charged $42.05. The price of message-rate service is $6.60 a month. Each local call carries a charge based on the time, day and location called.
