(Amex: VIA and VIAB) today announced that Ivan Seidenberg, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NYNEX, has been elected to the Viacom Board of Directors, replacing William C. Ferguson, Chairman Emeritus of NYNEX. The Viacom Board of Directors, which comprises 13 members, also includes Frederic V. Salerno, Vice Chairman of NYNEX. Prior to his appointment as Chairman of NYNEX in April 1995, Mr. Seidenberg served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the company since January 1995. Previously, he held the positions of President and Chief Operating Officer, and Vice Chairman, as well as numerous senior level positions within the NYNEX organization. Mr. Seidenberg has been a member of the NYNEX Board of Directors since 1991. Mr. Seidenberg is also a member of the board of directors of AlliedSignal Inc., Melville Corporation, Pace University, and the New York Hall of Science. He is a member of the Dean's Council at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and a former chairman of the United States Telecommunications Association.
