Mr. de Vink, 50, is president and chief operating officer of Warner-Lambert Company, one of the world's leading producers of consumer health and personal care, pharmaceutical and confectionary products. Headquartered in Morris Plains, New Jersey, Warner-Lambert markets such well-known brands as Listerine, Rolaids, Certs, Clorets, Halls, Benadryl, Sudafed, Efferdent, Neosporin, Caladryl, Schick, Wilkinson, Dentyne and Trident to consumers in more than 140 countries worldwide. The Company is also the world's largest producer of hard-gelatin capsules and a major manufacturer and marketer of ethical and generic pharmaceuticals. With $6.4 billion in net sales and a 43 percent return on shareholders equity in 1994, Warner-Lambert is ranked 80th in market value of the Fortune 500. Mr. de Vink attended the Netherlands School of Business and holds a B.B.A. from Washburn University and an M.B.A. from American University. He began his career at Schering-Plough Corporation, holding positions of increasing responsibility for marketing in Canada, Europe, the Middle East and Africa before being named president of Schering International in 1986. He joined Warner- Lambert in 1988 as vice president of international operations, becoming president of that division and then president of U.S. operations. He was elected president and chief operating officer of Warner-Lambert Company in August 1991. Mr. de Vink is chairman of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America and a member of the executive committee of the Pharmaceutical Partners for Better Health Care. He is a trustee of the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases and a member of Nijenrode University's international advisory board. He is also a director of Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, N.J., the Friends of Hassenfeld and the National Actors Theatre.
