NYNEX and CWA Reach Agreement Covering New Bargaining Unit

BOSTON -- Bargaining committees from NYNEX and the Communications Workers of America today reached a new agreement covering employees in the NYNEX Residence Sales organization in New England and the Boston Annoyance Call Bureau. The agreement will run through Aug. 8, 1998 and is subject to ratification by members of the new bargaining unit by June 27.

The agreement balances the interests of our customers, our employees and our shareholders, and is consistent with the pattern of agreements reached by NYNEX and the unions in New York and New England, said Jack Navarro, chief negotiator for the NYNEX sales organization. Furthermore, it addresses concerns related to the establishment of Home Market and Account Collection Centers.

"This tentative agreement is one all of my members can be proud of," said Melissa Morin, CWA president, Local 1400. "It addresses a broad range of issues that are important to them," said Morin.

The agreement covers approximately 1,500 Maine, Massachusetts and Vermont employees, including service representatives in both the residence sales organization and the Boston Annoyance Call Bureau, as well as their clerical support personnel.
