PER-CALL BLOCKING SERVICE
NYNEX Per-Call Blocking Service blocks, for one telephone call, your number and name from being displayed on a Caller ID device. It also prevents the called party from using NYNEX Call Return Service (*69) to call you back. To use Per-Call Blocking, dial *67, listen for a "stutter" dial tone followed by a regular dial tone and then dial the telephone number. This must be done each time you want to block display of your number and name on a Caller ID device or to prevent the call from being returned using Call Return. (The Caller ID user receiving your call will see "P" or "Private" on the display device. The Call Return user who tries to return the call will hear a recorded announcement that the number cannot be reached using Call Return.) When you use Per-Call Blocking and you reach someone who has activated NYNEX Anonymous Call Rejection Service, you will hear a recorded announcement advising that your call will not be accepted. If you choose to complete the call, you must hang up and dial again without using Per-Call Blocking or you can place the call from a different telephone number. If you call certain business numbers, such as some 800 or 900 numbers or 911 in some areas of the state, the business you called may learn your number through a different technology called Automatic Number Identification (ANI). Per-Call Blocking will not prevent your number from being known in these cases.
