NETWORK RECONFIGURATION SERVICE

Looking for a network management solution? Our Network Reconfiguration Service (NRS) is a network service designed for large and medium-sized business customers. NRS is a vertical enhancement to the private-line product line and can enable you to reconfigure your DS0 and DS1 private-line services from one point to another within your network.

FEATURES

Utilizing existing central-office-based digital cross-connect system technology, NRS provides network management and reconfiguration functionality. Maintain control over your network by accessing the NRS controller through an on-site CPE terminal or by contacting a NYNEX technician directly via an "800" number to have reconfigurations done on demand.

The basic functional elements of NRS that meet customer needs are:

  1. Configuration Management, including circuit design and circuit grooming. Circuits can be reconfigured either as a single DS0 or as an intact DS1.

  2. Alarm Surveillance, including DS1 alarm tracking on a real-time basis.

  3. Customized Reports, including alarm history, circuit design displays of current mapping and connection status of each circuit within a customer's network architecture.

  4. Network Administration, including security processes that restrict reconfiguration authorization as required and network partitioning of each customer network.

BENEFITS

The most common applications for NRS are Network Backboning and Disaster Prevention. Backbone networking allows customers to build a network that connects many satellite locations to a central point to provide a more efficient method of transmitting data. For example, NRS allows customers to allocate bandwidth to integrate data, voice and video.

NRS is an effective solution when designing a disaster-prevention network plan. It can be used to reconfigure private channels to an alternate data center or "hot site" which can provide backup processing.

GETTING NRS

NRS pricing includes two elements: Network Access Ports and Network Controller Access.

Network Access Ports are the entry/exit points at the digital cross-connect for the private-line transport service that needs to be reconfigured. Monthly rates and non-recurring charges apply to the Network Access Ports.

With Network Controller Access, customers choose the way they access the network controller that provides the management and control function for NRS. Customers can access the controller via a dial-up scenario or a dedicated private-line connection or by subscribing to attendant access which allows for on-demand reconfiguration by a NYNEX technician. Monthly rates and non-recurring charges apply for Network Controller Access.

Service payment plans are also available for all monthly rates on a 36-month or 60-month agreement. The minimum service period for NRS is three months. NRS rates do not include the monthly and non-recurring rates of the associated private-line transport services.

NRS is available from any central office that has an existing digital cross-connect system. A current list of these offices can be obtained by contacting the NRS Product Manager.

This product/service is available in New York and New England. For more information, please call your local NYNEX business office.
