FRAME RELAY SERVICES
These days, more and more businesses send large packets of data from one site to another. Things like X-rays from a small hospital to a university specialist, layouts to a printer, financial data from one brokerage firm to another or inventory re-orders to plants and suppliers. And LANs at one or more locations need to access information in mainframes or servers halfway across the state. NYNEX Frame Relay Service lets you do the job accurately, quickly and far more economically than you could with private dedicated lines. FEATURES It's called Frame Relay because it works by organizing your data into variable length packets called frames. (In fact, frame relay is a streamlined form of the fast packet switching technology known as X.25.) Each frame contains electronic flags that identify its beginning and end, as well as addressing and error-checking information. BENEFITS The big advantage with Frame Relay Service is that data travels over the high-speed NYNEX digital network. It lets you access the full bandwidth of the network on demand, without having to pay for transmission capacity when you're not using it. You only need a single link into the network rather than multiple lines; any number of workstations can use the same link at the same time and transmit data to any number of different locations. In fact, Frame Relay is the ideal technology to establish LAN-to-LAN connections and distributed client/server networks. And of course there's the big advantage of NYNEX security. If there's a problem anywhere in the network (other than in your own equipment, of course) NYNEX will automatically reroute the data to assure continuous, timely service. This product/service is available in New York and New England. For more information, please call your local NYNEX business office.
