DIGIPATH® II DIGITAL SERVICE
Running a successful business means your company depends on the ability to manage information. With the growing power and capacity of both hardware and software, DigiPath gives you the ability to process, store and retrieve extensive amounts of complex information. In order to utilize this information, you must first acquire access to it. Private line data networking has enabled your business to link geographically scattered resource locations, providing each with access to information resources of the others. Digital data transport provides far more reliable service than analog. In the past, however, many companies have chosen analog as an economical alternative to digital's premium pricing, believing that the features available with a digital service could not justify its increased cost over analog -- until now. NYNEX DigiPath II Digital Service's lower rates, combined with our new flexible payment options, make DDS II a cost-effective digital solution for your transport needs. FEATURES NYNEX'S DDS II can dramatically improve your data management efficiency with a high-quality data connection. It links your data resource locations with full duplex, synchronous transmission of digital signals, with transmission speed choices 2.4, 4.8, 9.6, 19.2 and 56 Kbps. DDS II, a Pathways Service, offers the flexibility of point-to-point, multi-point and/or point-to-serving wire center configurations. Secondary Channel Capability (SCC) -- is a DDS II option, available with a four-wire circuit and gives you a companion channel to the primary channel. This companion channel operates independently of, but parallel to, the primary channel. SCC was designed for customers who want to increase control over their network, and can be used for a variety of network capabilities such as:
BENEFITS If you rely on analog service for any part of your private data network, you're entrusting your valuable information to a less reliable transport service. It's in the analog loop that transmission problems are most likely to occur. DDS II, however, has far more stringent performance criteria for its digital local loop, making it the stronger link in your private data network. DDS II's superior circuitry and digital test centers were designed to minimize downtime. The centralized testing and advanced trouble-isolation capabilities of the digital test centers ensure prompt service restoration. DDS II offers increased reliability you can't get with analog because the digital data signals are continually regenerated as they travel between your data resource locations. This translates into 99.5% error-free seconds of transmission at all five transmission speeds, based on past performance. With analog, the signals are merely amplified, meaning that noise or signal distortion is amplified as well, increasing the chance of transmission errors. No conversion is required with digital transmission. A distinct advantage of DDS II is that your information is transmitted end-to-end in digital format. The need for modems to convert digital format to analog format and back again to digital is eliminated, along with the risk of transmission errors. DDS II provides centralized synchronization of all network components, reducing the chance of garbled transmission due to timing differences. There are a number of potential applications of DDS II for a variety of businesses. An application commonly used is the connection of remote customer service locations to a central database. Since this configuration is selected by businesses whose data characteristics are of the inquiry/response type, response time is critical because it affects performance levels and, ultimately, customer satisfaction. DDS II is favored for this configuration because DDS II's faster, more reliable digital connection ensures quicker response time to database inquiries, enhancing customer service performance and customer satisfaction. GETTING DDS II DDS II offers a new, more cost-effective pricing structure through its technologically advanced nodal network architecture. Nodal architecture allows NYNEX to price DDS II on a central office-to-central office basis, and this new structure means lower rates. It is now easier than ever to take advantage of the attractive features currently available with DDS II, as well as features planned for the near future, such as network reconfiguration. DDS II's nodal architecture is made possible by a circuit routing technology called the digital cross-connect system. This technology also incorporates advanced diagnostics that allow the digital test centers to quickly isolate circuit trouble. The nodal architecture lets you pick your networking strategy from these three arrangements:
The customer premises equipment required to connect terminal equipment to DDS II is now available from NYNEX. If you currently have DDS, you can continue to use the CSU/DSU equipment already installed. If you are a new customer, or if you want to take advantage of the Secondary Channel Capability option, we can supply you with either a CSU, DSU or combination CSU/DSU "box." For transmission speeds below 56 Kbps, you have the option of selecting a more economical two wire DDS II circuit, utilizing UDVM equipment. While you may still obtain your customer premises equipment from another vendor, by purchasing or renting directly from NYNEX, you benefit from the convenience of one-stop shopping, with the assurance that you are receiving the top-quality equipment that you require, backed by the dependability of NYNEX's installation and service. This product/service is available in New York and New England.
