Small Business is Big Business In Rhode Island, where more than 80 percent of all business is small business, NYNEX is reaching out to help provide the technological know-how these businesses need to grow and increase productivity. In conjunction with Bryant College, NYNEX has established the small business Telecommunications Technology Center, a teaching and consulting laboratory where small business owners and employees can go for hands-on experience with such technologies as video conferencing, desktop publishing, Internet access and telecommuting. "Small business is big business in Rhode Island, and this center is a place where businesses throughout the state can go to get a perspective on the opportunities that new technologies are bringing to the marketplace," said Pam Drainville, associate director-Market Development for Rhode Island. Housed in Bryant College's Koffler Technology Center in Smithfield, the center's full-time project director and three part-time student employees offer demonstrations, training workshops and counseling services. These programs are being coordinated with other business and educational programs as part of Bryant College's Center for International Business and Economic Development.
