Education Awards Total $1.2M

The NYNEX Foundation has just announced a request for proposals in education that will give out a total of $1.2 million in grants -- the 1996 NYNEX Excellence in Education Awards -- across the region.

This is the fourth year the grants will go toward programs and projects that foster the application of technology into the curriculum in college classrooms and in grades 7 to 12 from Maine to New York.

The awards will range from $5,000 to $50,000 to educational, nonprofit organizations that implement these programs in the classrooms identified. The NYNEX Foundation has added an additional $500,000 to the total amount of the grants for this year.
